Il film documenta l'ideazione e la creazione di Posatoi, un lavoro di Francesco Arena commissionato nel 2014 da Nancy Olnick e Giorgio Spanu per la loro residenza di Garrison, poco distante da New York. L'opera site specific è composta da cinque totem in bronzo, ciascuno dei quali rappresenta un membro della famiglia. L'altezza di ogni totem corrisponde alla distanza da terra al livello degli occhi e la larghezza alla distanza degli occhi tra di loro. Posatoi è un “ritratto di famiglia”, a metà strada tra astratto e concreto: pur non rappresentando realisticamente i tratti fisici dei diversi componenti della famiglia, ne suggerisce i rispettivi punti di vista.

The film documents the conception and creation of Posatoi, a site-specific work by the Italian artist Francesco Arena commissioned in 2014 by Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu for their property in Garrison, NY. The artwork is a sculpture consisting of five bronze totems, each representing a member of the family. The height of each totem corresponds to the distance between the ground and the eyes of each member of the family. The width of each totem matches the distance between the eyes of each of them. Posatoi is a ’family portrait’, at once an abstraction, in not directly representing the family, but suggesting instead their respective points of view and meticulously concrete, in being constructed to reflect their precise bodily measurements.
